Kaveh Alamouti
Head of Global Macro
Chief Executive Officer, Citadel Asset Management Europe
Kaveh Alamouti is Head of Global Macro and CEO of Citadel Asset Management Europe. Mr. Alamouti joined Citadel in 2008. Previously, he was the portfolio manager for Moore Capital’s global macro multi-strategy and foreign exchange funds. Prior to that, Mr. Alamouti was the CEO of Optimum Asset Management. He began his career at Salomon Brothers and Tokai Bank, where he ran proprietary trading strategies.
Mr. Alamouti holds a bachelor’s degree from Imperial College, London, and an MBA and Ph.D. from London Business School.
Ryan Garino
Co–Head of Convertibles
Ryan Garino is Co-Head of Convertibles.
Mr. Garino joined Citadel in 2003. He has managed the consumer, industrial and financial portions of the Convertible portfolio since 2005. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Garino spent three years with The Boston Consulting Group in Chicago and London where he advised companies in the consumer and financial industries on business strategy issues.
Mr. Garino holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Northwestern University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
David Grossman
Co-Head of Convertibles
David Grossman is Co-Head of Convertibles.
Mr. Grossman joined Citadel in 2004 as a Portfolio Manager in the Convertible Bond Investment Group. Prior, Mr. Grossman spent five years with Deutsche Bank AG as a member of the Quantitative Value Trading Group (QVT). During his time there QVT became an independent investment manager.
Mr. Grossman earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
Brandon Haley
Co–Head of Global Equities
Brandon Haley joined Citadel in 2005 as Sector Head of Global Equities Consumer. He served in this role until 2009, when he was appointed to the Global Equities Management Committee. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Haley served at North Sound Capital, where he was the Consumer Sector Head for three years. Previously, Mr. Haley was a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs in the Equities and Risk Arbitrage Divisions.
Mr. Haley graduated from McGill University.
David Hensle
Head of Quantitative Credit
David Hensle is Head of Quantitative Credit. He is responsible for Citadel’s Structured Credit and Credit Arbitrage businesses globally.
Prior to joining Citadel in 2006, Mr. Hensle served as Head of U.S. Liquid Structured Credit Market Making for Bank of America. There he was responsible for the positioning and daily trading activities of the Credit Default Swap Index Single Tranche CDOs, Credit Default Swap Options, and Corporate Bond Options.
Mr. Hensle holds two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Derek Kaufman
Head of U.S. and European Fixed Income
Derek Kaufman is Head of U.S. and European Fixed Income. Prior to joining Citadel in 2008, Mr. Kaufman was a Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase, where he most recently served as Global Head of Fixed Income in the proprietary positioning business. Mr. Kaufman started at J.P. Morgan in 1996 and was one of the earliest members of the firm’s proprietary positioning business.
Mr. Kaufman currently serves on the board of The Preparatory Foundation, an affiliate of The Boston Preparatory Charter Public School.
Mr. Kaufman received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College.
Bill King
Head of Mortgages
Bill King is Head of Mortgages. Before joining Citadel, Mr. King was Co-Head of Global Securitized Products at JPMorgan. He held numerous other positions there, including Head of US-Securitized Products, Head of Mortgage Trading, and Head of Pass-Through Trading. Prior to JPMorgan, he served on the mortgage trading desks at both Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Inc. and Merrill Lynch & Co. Mr. King served as the SIFMA Chairman of the Securitized Product Group in 2007-2008.
Mr. King holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and an MBA from New York University.
David Noh
Head of Asian Merchant Banking
David Noh is Head of Asian Merchant Banking at Citadel Investment Group (Hong Kong) Limited.
Prior to joining Citadel in 2008, Mr. Noh was with Merrill Lynch, where he served as Head of Corporate Principal Investments for the Pacific Rim. While at Merrill Lynch, he co-founded the firm’s Distressed Debt Group in Asia. Mr. Noh also served as Head of Commercial Real Estate Investments for the Asia Pacific Region from 2003 to 2005.
Mr. Noh previously served as an Associate in Goldman Sachs’ Asia Special Situations Group and as an analyst in the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley. He began his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young.
Mr. Noh holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.
Jeff Runnfeldt
Co–Head of Global Equities
Jeff Runnfeldt joined Citadel in 2002 and was named Sector Head of Financials in 2004. He was appointed to the Global Equities Management Committee in 2009. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Runnfeldt served at Montgomery Asset Management, where he was a Senior Analyst in Global Equity Research. Prior to joining Montgomery Asset Management, Mr. Runnfeldt covered financials at BT Alex Brown, First Security Van Kasper, and Dain Rauscher Wessels. He started his career as a Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where he spent seven years.
Mr. Runnfeldt holds a master’s degree from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s degree from California State University at Bakersfield.
Mark Stainton
Head of Energy
Mark Stainton is Head of Energy. Mr. Stainton joined Citadel in 2006. Prior to joining Citadel, he was Head of CDO and Exotic Credit Trading at Deutsche Bank. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he served three years at JPMorgan Chase in London, where he was a specialist in interest rate and currency products. He began his career at McKinsey & Company.
Mr. Stainton holds a bachelor’s degree from Oxford University.
Jon Venetos
Head of PioneerPath Capital and Surveyor Capital
Jon Venetos is Head of PioneerPath and Surveyor Capital and also oversees Citadel Discovery.
Prior to joining Citadel in 2007, Mr. Venetos served as the Deputy Head of Fund of Funds and Senior Portfolio Manager for the Topiary Select Portfolios at Deutsche Bank Absolute Return Strategies. Prior, Mr. Venetos was a Director at Thomas H. Lee Capital, LLC. Previously, he served in various portfolio management and hedge fund analyst roles at Deutsche Bank Absolute Return Strategies and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Alternative Strategies.
Mr. Venetos received a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
Steve Weller
Co–Head of Global Equities
Steve Weller joined Citadel in 2001 and was named Sector Head of Global Equities Communications, Media and Entertainment in 2004, then Sector Head of Global Equities Technology in 2006. He was appointed to the Global Equities Management Committee in 2009. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Weller served at Alliance Capital Management, where he was an equity analyst for four years. Prior to joining Alliance Capital Management, Mr. Weller served at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Weller graduated with a JD from Harvard Law School and holds a master’s degree from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
Becket Wolf
Head of Fundamental Credit
Becket Wolf is Head of Fundamental Credit. He is responsible for Citadel’s Fundamental Credit business globally.
Prior to joining Citadel in 2005, Mr. Wolf managed Fundamental Credit Research for Laurel Ridge Asset Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund based in New York. He began his career with Salomon Smith Barney in the firm’s Industrials Investment Banking division, later moving to Citigroup’s Corporate Bond Research Department covering the Media sector.
Mr. Wolf holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
